Pick the right ordering
Natural order uses English collation with numeric comparison, so Player 2 comes before Player 10. Unicode code-unit order compares the underlying UTF-16 text; its order is not the same as a human alphabet.
Numbers-only mode accepts one finite decimal number per line, including signs and scientific notation. It rejects labels, comma-separated numbers, empty rows and non-finite values. Enable Omit blank lines when appropriate. Numbers use JavaScript floating-point precision, so very large integers can compare as equal.
Keep control of the list
Descending order reverses the comparison, while equal sort keys retain their original relative order. Ignore letter case changes text comparisons. Sorting never removes duplicates; use the duplicate line remover for that task.
Line endings are normalized to LF. A final line terminator is retained when lines remain. Natural order may vary with the browser’s collation data, particularly for accents and punctuation.
Local text processing
The input is processed in this browser and is not sent to our servers or included in tool-use analytics. Use up to 20,000 UTF-16 input units at a time. Copy output keeps your original input intact; if clipboard access is blocked, the output is selected for manual copying.
Questions
- Why is Player 10 before Player 2 in Unicode order? That mode compares code units rather than numeric parts. Select Natural order to compare the embedded numbers numerically.
- Does numeric sorting support currencies? No. Remove currency signs, grouping commas and labels first. Use one finite decimal value per line.
