Ways to play

You are X. Tap an empty square to place your mark, then the other side places an O.
Get three in a row to win: across, down or diagonally.
When all nine squares are full and nobody has three in a row, the round is a draw.
With a friend, X and O take turns on one phone. Whoever lost starts the next round.

Easy: the computer makes lots of mistakes. Good for learning and for kids.
Medium: the computer always blocks your two in a row, so you need a plan.
Hard: the computer never loses. The best you can do is a draw: can you get it every time?

Start in a corner. A corner opening gives the other side the most ways to go wrong. The centre is the safest reply to it.
Block first. Before you make your own line, check: does the other side have two in a row? Take the third square.
Make a fork. The winning trick is a move that makes two lines of two at once. Only one can be blocked.
Perfect play is a draw. If both sides make no mistakes, every game ends in a draw. That is why Hard can only be drawn.

Can two people play on one phone? Yes. Pick 2 players and pass the phone: X and O take turns on the same screen. Whoever lost starts the next round.
Can you beat the computer on Hard? No: on Hard the computer plays perfectly, so the best result is a draw. Easy and Medium can be beaten.
Does it work without internet? In the 1000 Offline Games app, yes: it plays fully offline. Here on the website it needs a connection to load.
