Use what is already installed

Offline games for a power cut

If a power cut also leaves you without wifi, an already installed offline game can still run on a charged phone. Sudoku and Solitaire suit one person; Ludo and Four in a Row let people share a device. Download and test the collection before an outage rather than depend on a fresh connection during it.

Solo puzzles and shared turns

What can you do if the outage has already started?

First check what is already on the phone. Open an installed game and choose a local mode rather than a service that needs another online player. If the collection is not installed and you have no connection, this page cannot make that download work offline.

Having a game available does not charge the device. Decide whether you want to spend time on a game given whatever other use you have for the phone.

How is local two-player play different from online play?

In these shared modes, one phone holds the whole board and both players take turns on it. There is no matchmaking, server connection or Bluetooth pairing step. Ludo can have more than two players, but Four in a Row is for two.

If everyone wants a shorter session, choose Quick Ludo or one Four in a Row round. If only one person wants to play, switch to a solo puzzle instead of treating every game as a group activity.

What still needs a connection?

Installing the app, opening the website for the first time and loading optional video rewards need a connection. The installed game rules and assets do not. Not having a rewarded video available is different from needing internet for the puzzle itself.

A website you visited in the past may depend on browser cache state, so it is not a substitute for checking your own offline setup. For this scenario, prepare the installed Android collection. The iPhone apps are still coming soon.

What should you prepare while connected?

  • Install Offline Games, which includes all five recommendations, and open the games you want to use.
  • Try airplane mode yourself so you know the installed gameplay opens without a network.
  • Read Ludo rules for shared play or Solitaire rules for a solo option.
  • For a planned trip away from reception, use our camping guide instead.

Play it with no internet

Offline Games includes this game among 22 games in one small app that plays fully offline: on a plane, on the metro, with no signal at all.

Free for Android

Safe to install: no account, nothing personal asked.

Questions

  • Can I download the game without internet? No. Prepare the app while connected. Offline gameplay refers to playing after the needed files are installed.
  • Does a power cut always remove mobile data? This guide does not assume that. It covers the case where your usable connection is unavailable or you choose an already installed offline game.
  • Do local players need Bluetooth? No. The shared games recommended here run on one device with turn-based controls.
